The clamping system of the electro-hydraulic rail pincers was maintained by the electro-mechanical rail pincers. The anchoring on the rail is built in to the jaw wedges. The principle is self-locking, so that only when driven by appropriate wind load is a lock on the rail. The drive system is electro-mechanically.
With the aid of a geared motor, a moved spindle is integrated into the lever system. By this, the jaws are released. At the same time the spring is wound. A position switch of the drive motor is switched off in the open clamp and rail switched the crane chassis. The fitted spring is held by a magnetic brake and switched on simultaneously in the clamping position. When creating the rail pincers or a power failure, the magnetic brake is ventilated. The drive is now constructed by the spring on the drive shaft. This combination of drive components ensures that even in case of power failure, the application of the rail pincers is ensured.
By bearing in the swivel sleeves rail pincers jaws it is possible (if the cran construction allows this) to fit a crane with only a wind protection. The specified holding forces are expected to be reduced to 80% for safety.
