The clamping system of the electro-hydraulic rail pincers was maintained by the manally operated rail pincers. The anchoring on the rail is built in to the jaw wedges. The principle is self-locking, so that only when driven by appropriate wind load is a lock on the rail.
By a hand wheel, the drive spindle is moved in the lever system which applies the jaws on both sides of the rail. With the help of a position switch the rail pincers is interlocked the crane carriage automatically. With open rail pincers the crane carriage is connected. If the rail pincers is opened again the crane carriage is switched on automatically.
By bearing in the swivel sleeves rail pincers jaws it is possible (if the cran construction allows this) to fit a crane with only a wind protection. The specified holding forces are expected to be reduced to 80% for safety.
